The symphony holds its annual auditions at the end of May each year. Both current members and interested new students must audition. Expect a five to ten- minute audition where students will be asked to prepare for and play:
* A brief solo piece of their choice with no piano accompaniment
* Some 2-3 octave scales
* A 2-3 octave chromatic scale for woodwind and brass players
Students are evaluated by their audition and placed in an orchestra that best suits their abilities and the intrumentation needs of the orchestra. Conductors may make changes through the season.
There is a $10 audition fee for new members. This fee is waived for current members that are re-auditioning.
